At All Hallows, every child has the opportunity
to participate in team and individual sports at the level that
challenges them but which suits their ability.
Our focus is on fostering the love of sport
that adds an important new dimension to life, increasing motivation
and performance in all its aspects.
With over 15 acres of pitches,
a modern sports hall, covered swimming pool, an Astroturf pitch,
a multi-purpose surface and more, our facilities are matched
by the expertise and commitment of the 16 members of staff who
contribute to sport at every level of the school.
However, our ethos extends beyond
organised sports alone – wherever you look, children are playing
impromptu ball games, running and competing to express the love
of life that sport at its best both creates and reflects.
Sport is an important feature of the school.
Through the games lessons and the physical education programme,
all children are encouraged to take part and parents are invited
to spectate and support the children in competitive fixtures
and tournaments.
Coaching
opportunities exist in rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, rounders,
swimming, tennis, athletics, gymnastics, trampolining, judo,
fencing, ballet, cross-country, as well as other activities like
basketball, golf, riding, football, etc. Our Tennis
Academy is a very significant
entity, supporting children and parents across the ability spectrum.
Sports tours are organised in the major team
games on a regular basis; the rugby and hockey teams, for example,
have enjoyed visits recently to Holland, Ireland and other regions
in England.
Competitive sport is taken seriously and expectation
is high across the age and ability ranges.

All Hallows operates a “sport-for-all” all-inclusive
team policy by scheduling as many teams as possible into a competitive
fixture list against other independent prep schools in the area.
Our top flight teams in each age group are very competitive indeed
and have experienced regional and national success in recent
seasons. Team opportunities exist from the age of seven and all
pupils are coached by the specialist teachers in the school,
as well as by other staff whose interests and talents lie on
the games field. Each team fixture will produce a “man of the
match” or “woman of the match” award which is given prominence
in weekly assemblies. Our more experienced and able performers
go on to represent the region in national competitions.
Sport related opportunities are a major aspect
of our Activities
Programme led by our Director of Sport. Our
measure of success is the enthusiasm and technical development
of the individual child, whatever their gifts and starting points,
alongside the highest levels of competitive performance from
our most able and more experienced individuals.
The School occupies a 25-acres site with its
own separate wooded area and cycle track. The main Manor House
(Grade Two listed building) caters for the needs of the boarding
community, in particular, by accommodating dormitories and residential
quarters for staff. An impressive sports hall, astro turf facility,
covered swimming pool, floodlit tennis courts, extensive playing
fields, all weather cycle track, woodland (including outdoor
classroom), chapel, art studio, theatre, purpose-built library,
new academic wing, converted stable courtyard, dedicated science
laboratories, IT centre, integrated Junior department, as well
as other teaching areas, all make up the school’s physical setting.
