Year Three have started their History Topic
with a real WOW as they are now fully functional Legionaries
in the Roman Army! Donning their tunics and togas for Roman Day
the children were trained to be Roman Legionaries and many of
them were given the opportunity to try on suits of armour, helmets,
carry shields and a variety of different weapons. The History
Man, Caivs Aqvilonivs Statvtvs, otherwise know as Aquilonius
to the children, was dressed as a Roman Legionary. He took the
children through a day packed with facts, fun and vigorous activities.
The girls could hardly contain themselves when he told them that
girls in Roman times were too stupid to be Legionaries: ‘Not
the All Hallows girls!’ came the cry!
Year Three are now a force to be reckoned
with. Some of the Year Eight’s were unfortunate enough to experience
first hand their new skills as they advanced in arrowhead formation
to meet them. These experiences are already allowing them to
add detail to their writing and we now look forward to a trip
planned to the Roman Baths in October.
Vale (Goodbye).
