Particular strengths of the school, according
to the last report by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
(2003), were noted as: the Headmaster's firm leadership in establishing
the warm community ethos and the high standards; the well-qualified
and expert teaching staff; the dedication to the welfare and
personal development of each pupil; the excellent quality of
pastoral care; the positive, courteous and kind behaviour and
attitudes of the children; the very good arrangements for
supporting pupils both in the classroom and in the specialist
unit; the fine environment of the school site in which pupils
can learn and develop; the strong and effective partnership with
parents.
Recommendations from the
same report included: the revision of the school's assessment
procedures; some timetabling logistics could be improved; the
setting out of an action plan in various areas of the school's
development plans; further thought to be given to the library
provision; a re-drawing of the responsibilties held by certain
staff.
